If you’re trying to figure out how can you be more fashionable and would like to know how you can make your outfit look good everyday, then keep reading. On this post we’re going over how you can create the perfect outfit every time and I’ll be giving you the formula to make getting dressed easier.
You’re scrolling through Instagram, looking at everyone’s pretentious highlight reels. You follow your favorite influencers and fashion bloggers, you see their chic outfits, you think ”wow they look so put together”, “omg, that outfit is so cute! I need it.” then you proceed to look at their blog or wherever it is they’ve linked their outfit details. In the spur of the moment you buy the item because it looked so cute on them, you somehow justify to yourself you need the $100 sweater that you just purchased from being impulsive.
Week after week, these purchases add up. You can’t afford to keep spending $700 month on ridiculous trendy clothing, or maybe you live in some fairytale and you really can. However, majority of society can not afford to constantly buy clothes every week and most of society doesn’t. Let’s set something straight right now, style is not something you can buy. Styling is 100% free, if you can do it. Some people become icons and inspirations because of how they can style and put things together.
This is also going to be helpful with starting or styling a capsule wardrobe, which I myself am working towards. If you are unfamiliar with capsule wardrobes, basically it’s a fancy term for a minimal wardrobe. You have only so many items in your closet, and everything you possess must add value to your life. People say getting dressed becomes easier when you have a small seamless wardrobe. A lot of items in our closets tend to be a waste, and majority of it doesn’t get worn.
Start with the basics.
One thing you want to do is start with some good essentials. These basics are good for layering, they’re easy to mix and match, and most of all they’re timeless. You just have to find them in your favorite colors and styles. I’ve tailored these looks for winter. One thing to strive for is a color palette. When you get some colors that you want it’s easier to pick out items that flow better together.
Knitwear and accessories is where you can start to style with the fun pieces. Items like sweaters people tend to gravitate towards the trendy pieces, and then wear it for that one season. I recommend buying on sale, or some fun finds at a thrift shop, Poshmark or even Mercari. Boohoo has recently became one of my favorite places for trendy clothing at a fraction of the price! (I am no way sponsored by these places mentioned).
Pants & bottoms.
One thing I’ve noticed while trying to be more creative when styling, is that a variety in bottoms is essential. I tend to gravitate to the same jeans over and over. Recently I bought a skirt and faux leather leggings, let me tell you those two items alone have been a game changer in my wardrobe.
Coats & jackets.
I kept this pretty simple with just 3 options. Denim jackets are a must-have. For some reason, I went the longest period of time without one. Then earlier this year I scored a great deal with my favorite boutique and got it on sale for $20. They are just so great you can literally pair it with almost anything and they’re so timeless. Also, don’t be afraid to play and go out of your comfort zone with a fun jacket or coat!
Shoes are always something you should splurge a little on. Mostly because you don’t want them to wear down fast and then end up having to spend more money on the item in the long run. People are also more likely to keep shoes a lot longer than most items.
Finally, the big reveal for the many outfits you can put together with very little items.
Seeing below, mostly all items can be mixed and matched. These are already chic outfits and you don’t even have the accessories yet.
Now I have easily created twenty-one outfits with twenty-two items. When I say twenty-two items I know it sounds like quite a bit, but that’s not even a fraction of most people’s closets. Even more fashionable outfits can be created, this isn’t even half of the results you can get.
Down below I am giving you the outfit formula making getting dressed simple. Say goodbye to the days stressing and being on the verge of tears about what the heck you’re going to where.
I’m so excited to be writing posts like this instead of pushing my readers to buy more to look good, when that’s not necessarily the case to be fashionable. It’s all about being creative, being you, and having fun!
