It’s time for Carnival season! One of my absolute favorite things about living in Louisiana is Mardi Gras. Something about this holiday brings one of the most unique experiences. Justin and I went to our first carnival celebration back in 2017, and we hands down had the most fun we’ve ever had! Certainly it’s unlike any other holiday that you can experience.
Costumes, culture, and good cajun cuisine are just a few reasons to attend Mardi Gras. Something about a holiday that is celebrated in one city but attracts people from all over the world is so exciting to my small town girl roots. When Justin and I went, I think we did everything we could think of. Walked around for hours on end exploring the French Quarter, catching beads from parades, and wind down with some beignets from Café Beignet.
So with the King Cake Challenge, you get to find your favorite king cake and share it with everyone. First I will say this was a much tougher job than I was expecting, although very tasty! I had a few places in mind, but I wanted to pick somewhere that may not be an initial thought for everyone and implore others to try somewhere new.
Drum roll please….. Cupcake Allie!!! King cake cupcakes? Yes please! Don’t let the title cupcake fool you, these babies are the most amazing mini king cakes. We opted for the strawberry cream cheese filling and yum! We get Allie’s cupcakes regularly so when I got to taste her king cake version I knew it was the one. SO DELICIOUS. I do have to say, I am more of a cupcake kind of girl. I love that you get the big classic flavors, in a single sized cake.
